Naturally Stunning

Bounded by the Exe Estuary and the Clyst River, Topsham offers spectacular views along both the water’s edge and inland.

Known for its historic Goat Walk, estuary views and home to an internationally important site for migratory birds, the natural beauty of Topsham will take your breath away.

The Goat Walk

Take a seat at the Goat Walk and marvel at the constantly changing views of the estuary. The Goat Walk forms part of a circular walk from the town centre, down the Strand where you will see the Dutch gables of some of the old merchants’ houses, along the Goat Walk, and round along Bowling Green Road and the RSPB Nature Reserve. Exe Estuary Trail

Topsham is ideally positioned on the National Cycle Route 2, The Exe Estuary Trail. The stretch from Topsham to Exmouth is one of the most stunning, mainly traffic-free sections. It is ideal for cyclists as well as walkers and runners.  Exploring the Exe Estuary Trail — not only on the Topsham side of the river, but across to Exminster, Turf, Powderham and Starcross (where you can take a ferry across to Exmouth), or north to Exeter’s historic quayside — makes for a perfect day out. Pick up supplies in Fore Street, hire a bike from Route 2 Bike Shop or Darts Farm and off you go!

The Viewing Platform around 5 minutes walk from The Lookout also offers stunning views across the Exe Estuary towards Exmouth.

RSPB Goosemoor is to the east of Bowling Green, accessed by passing under the railway bridge and walking or cycling toward Darts Farm along the elevated track.
