Topsham – a magnet for artists and performers
The stunning views across the estuary and quirky architecture around town act as a magnet to so many creative people, making Topsham a hotspot for all type of artists.
Not surprisingly, you don’t need to go far to see the work of local artists. Fore Street has a number of galleries such as Artenax, Art @ 96, Fleming and Sell, David Chambers, Marine Artist and Rhombus and Pineapple, designers in papercut products as well as more traditional art. Topsham also has a thriving art group and wonderful art supplies shop, Bargain Arts in Fore Street.
Topsham Arts Trail
This year sees the Topsham Arts trail on Saturday 25th August, which is a must for any art lovers. Your day will be full visiting open studios, independent galleries and gardens around Topsham and meeting local artists and ceramicists. Pick up a free Art trail map nearer the time from one of the shops along Fore Street, and discover the creative people and their work in Topsham.

If you’re lucky, you can catch the BBC folk band of the year, Show of Hands. Originally from Topsham, they are known to occasionally play around town when not selling out to venues such as the Albert Hall in London.
Topsham Music Festival
The annual Topsham Music festival in June is always a fantastic family event, with local and national artists showcasing their talent and providing a very enjoyable day out.
Topsham Folk Club
The town also has a folk club that meets every Sunday at The Globe Hotel Malthouse, where everyone is welcome to sing, play, listen and join in. The folk club also host monthly concerts at Matthews Hall.
